Kids and teens learn how to play at the Royalton Hartland Community Library

While the exact origin of the game of Chess is a mystery, the Chess Club for Kids and Teens at the Royalton Hartland Community Library will help unravel the way it is played.

Every Tuesday at 4 p.m. beginning October 6, the Chess Club will meet in the upstairs Community Room to take on the challenges of Chess.

Played for centuries in many cultures all over the world, Chess builds decision-making, strategy and communication skills that can be carried over and used on the sports field and in school. Kids and teens can learn the basics or sharpen their skills even more at the weekly meetings.

There will be introductory lessons for beginners and multiple games going on at each meeting, so Chess players of all levels will be put to the test. Snacks will also be served. No registration is needed for Chess players, and parents are welcome, but not required to attend.
