Green Space on the Canal
Parks & recreation in Middleport
Middleport’s parks make the most of the village’s greatest asset — the Erie Canal. From picnic pavilions on the canal banks to a memorial walkway on the Village Commons, here are the places to relax, play and gather.
The Parks
Where to go
Margaret Droman Park
Set right on the Erie Canal. The north bank has a picnic pavilion with tables; the south bank offers electric and water hook-ups, picnic tables and public restroom and shower facilities — handy for boaters and visitors alike.
Monument Park & Memorial Walkway
On the Village Commons, this quiet green features a memorial walkway, a veterans’ monument and a firefighters’ monument — the heart of the village’s Memorial Day observances.
Middleport Rotary Park
Behind the Scout House on Route 31, Rotary Park has a picnic pavilion, horseshoe courts and a meeting facility — and it hosts the summer Music in the Park series.
Middleport Outdoor Playground
A dedicated play area for younger residents and visitors, close to the village’s tennis courts and eight-lane running track on the Royalton-Hartland school grounds.
On the Towpath
Along the canal
Beyond the parks themselves, the towpath and canal banks are Middleport’s biggest playground — a place for boating, fishing, canoeing, walking, running and cycling. A boat ramp east of the village on Route 31 makes it easy to get out on the water. See more things to do »
