The Community Farmers Market is open on Wednesdays from 2 to 6 PM from June to October this year. The Farmers Market is located at the 7 Eleven Parking lot, 79 Telegraph Road in Middleport.

Come and enjoy the fresh produce, baked goods and all that our locals have that is delicious and fresh.

VETERANS: Are you receiving all of the benefits you earned by serving our nation? If you'd like to find out, a representative from the Niagara County Veterans Service Agency will be available to meet with on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at the Village Hall, 24 Main St., Middleport. Appointment times start at 9:00 am and run through 2:30 pm. Each appointment lasts about an hour. If you'd like an appointment, please call the Village Clerk's Office at 735-3303 (open 8:30 am to 4 pm). You must bring your separation papers with you. You do NOT have to be a Village resident to take advantage of this offer.

The Village offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2015, to observe the Labor Day Holiday. The refuse/recycle pickup will be delayed a day that week, to Thursday, Sept. 10. That is a "A" week for recycling pickup. The following streets are "A" pickup: Carolyn, Centennial, Church, Francis, Jackson, Kelly Ave., Locust, Main (inc. North & South), Manor Lane, Mechanic (WEST of N. Main ONLY), Mill, N. Hartland, Orchard., S. Hartland, Sherman Rd., Sleeper, Taylor, Telegraph Rd., Terry, and Watson Ave. Please remember your refuse & recycling should not be placed to the curb before 6:30 pm the night before and by 6:30 am the day of pickup.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration will be holding a Prescription Drug Drop off event on Saturday September 26th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Niagara County Sheriff's Office parking lot.

The Village of Middleport is seeking to fill the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator/Public Works Maintenance Person – Trainee. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits, including Health Insurance and NYS Retirement membership. The starting rate will range from $10.50 to $15 per hour, depending on experience. An employee in this position will work half time at unskilled and semi-skilled manual work throughout the municipality and half time at the actual operation of a wastewater treatment plant with a waste-activated sludge trickling filter, if needed. This work will include semi-skilled plumbing and related work in the maintenance, repair, and extension of the municipal sewer distribution system and at the treatment plant, operation of heavy equipment, and related clerical functions. Must have a working knowledge of elementary principles of chemistry and general science. Special requirements: Possession of a NYS CDL Class B Operator’s License and the ability to attain a Grade 2 Sewer Treatment Plant Operator license following the required training period. Application and job specifications are available at the Village’s website (www.villageofmiddleport.org) or the Clerk’s Office, 24 Main St., Middleport, NY. Applications will be accepted until September 4, 2015.
